YSL Lipstick

Birthdays are always a special time of year. Turning 18 this year has presented me with some very special gifts.

My friend Ellen gave me this GORGEOUS Yves Saint Laurent sheer lipstick for my birthday.

Accompanied by a beautiful gold YSL card, Ellen sure knows how to give good presents.

My heart melted as soon as I saw the gold wrapping and black ribbon.

One of the most gorgeous presents ever. I'm a lucky girl!

Thank you so much Ellen. I haven't stopped wearing it!

Cumulus Inc

Cumulus Inc. 45 Flinders Lane. It is a must.

If you're like me and you love your food. You will LOVE Cumulus Inc.

You feel like you're in New York as soon as you enter. The restaurant resonates class and elegance and the food is to die for.

The highlight for me was definitely the slow roast lamb shoulder. Cook for 13 hours, the meat falls off the bone and instantly melts in your mouth. Ahh my mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Cumulus Inc should be on everyone's 'where to eat' list. It's the perfect destination for any occasion.

An inside into The Sartorialist

This is one of the many videos that inspire me.

Filmmaker Tyler Manson directed this 'Visual life' of fashion blogger Scott Schuman.

I looks at The Sartorialist behind the camera. Scott talks about what inspires him and drives him to take such beautiful photos for 70,000 readers everyday.

Enjoy!

My Sister Says

I had this AMAZING raspberry yo-yo from My Sister Says in Port Melbourne.

Raspberry Yo-Yo -Devine

A gorgeous little cafe on Bridge St, My Sister Says is a perfect place to have a sneeky coffee break, meeting or a good catch up with an old friend.

The food is lovely and affordable. I had a focaicca with taleggio cheese, ham and mushroom and it was  devine! Just enough to fill me up until dinner time.

If you're ever in the area, do pop in and grab a coffee. I'd be surprised if you didn't leave with one of their delicacies. I'll be back for more giant yo-yo's (If my love handles let me).

Up & Comers Fashion Market @ St. Ali

The Up & Comers Fashion Market occurs every couple of months to provide a platform for untapped and talented designers to enter the fashion world.

The market features over 50 fashion stalls over 2 days, filled with clothing, jewellery, and accessories for men and women by up and coming designers. The market has become a fashion hub. Every month presents new and exciting designers and you can find some great vintage clothing and jewellery.

The market this year took place across St Ali’s four venues in Yarra Place, South Melbourne.

St Ali is without a doubt one of the best cafes in Melbourne.
In a converted warehouse in a South Melbourne laneway, St Ali do amazing coffees and some great healthy comfort food to cure any appetite or hangover.

I took my sister and her friend to the market. With my purse and my camera at the ready, I explored each stall very thoroughly and tried to capture the moment as best I could.

I was too shy to ask this lady for her photo so I sneakily took this while she wasn't looking.
Her stall was presented with such grace and elegance, nearly every head turned when she walked by.

I had a chat with Stef Dadon, founder of the Up & Comers Fashion Market. She was so please with the new venue and appreciated everyone who came. I mustered up the courage to ask for her photo.

I love exploring markets even when I don't need/want to buy anything. The Up & Comers Fashion Market has a great weekend atmosphere while providing Melbournians with the perfect place to shop, eat and be inspired!
My sister and her friend Claire find a comfy seat to take in the atmosphere.
I love this photo.

I wasn't the only one to enjoy the market!

Keep Calm and Carry On

I found this quote at Balaclava station.

It gave me a real boost to the rest of the morning because no matter what has happened in the past, we need to hold our head high, move forward and 'Keep Calm and Carry On'.

Who would have thought I'd start my morning commute a little more wiser than before!

Melbourne

Swanston St & Collins St

This is my stomping ground.

I work, study and play everyday in the city. The more time I spend here, the more I fall in love with this beautiful city that is Melbourne.

What I love most about the city is you'll find Melbourne's true beauty behind closed doors and laneways.
What may seem like a graffiti'd black door may be the portal to a groovy jazz club or Japanese restaurant. I find a new place to eat, shop and drink every time I come to the city.

From Banksy inspired laneways to nightclubs beneath Flinders St station. Start exploring some of Melbourne's best kept secrets.

I hope you're surprised at what you find.

Instagram: iPhone app

I am in love with Polaroid and Lomography pictures. The plastic lens in a Holga or Fish Eye create the 'wow' factor in photography and Polaroid cameras are so portable and 'instant' -something we take for granted today.

While we can immediately tweet, Flickr and Facebook photos we've taken on our phones, can we still share our photography in a magic and unique way as those first Polaroid pictures must have felt?

I recently installed Instagram onto my iPhone. I can take a photo (as seen below) and choose any effect to create the same feeling a Polaroid or Lomography camera produces. Although Instagram can't substitute the magic of a Polaroid, I can breathe a new life into my photos in an instant.

My first photo taken using Instagram
This has sparked my interest in photography. I plan to play around with this app before buying my own Polaroid or Holga.

I look forward to sharing more magic with you!

Four Seasons in One Day

For those of you who are not familiar with Melbourne, the weather here is the most complained about and unpredictable than any other city in Australia.

I have lived in Melbourne almost all my life and I still don’t know how to dress appropriately for the seasons.

Melbourne has welcomed the first days of Winter with an autumn twist -standard behaviour. The mornings are freezing, the days are sunny and enjoyable, then the Melbourne weather gods brings us back to chilly winds and rain all before our walk home.

While I got the chance to be outside today, I noticed how beautiful the colours that come out during Autumn/Winter really are. Neutral tones provides a framework for those deep green, navy blue and amber tones to shine through.

Coincidentally I was wearing these colours today so I thought I’d showcase my warm AND season orientated outfit with my two favourite rings.

Black and gold is my new colour palette when it comes to Jewelry. These two rings complete any outfit I wear and they couldn’t be more perfect for winter. Even when I’m having a lazy day I put these two rings on and they instantly make me feel like I’ve made an effort. The rough texture and abstract shape in both rings make great statement pieces and compliment the neutral tones I’ve chosen to wear today.
Top Ring - Diva
Bottom Ring - Gold Nugget Cocktail Ring, Belle Noel by Kim Kardashian
Cardigan - Country road
Singlet - Forever New
Scarf - Unknown
Belt - Forever New
Skirt - American Apparel

I just hope the weather stays like this all winter! …wait, It’s just begun to rain.

Here’s hoping,

Emma xx
